Fun, entertainment & education combined into one bundle to be The Amazing House

Our History
One day, Alex was sitting in her one of her primary (elementary) school teaching university lectures. As a keen performer of magic and ventriloquism, she realised that there was a fun way to teach children reading and learning plus to entertain everyone.

That evening she said to her father and mother, “I want to make a TV show to teach children about reading”. After her father, Robert, recovered from the shock, he wondered where to start as none of them had any video experience.

Being and engineer and also a performer of magic and ventriloquism, such a challenge was “just” another engineering problem to be solved for Robert.

Robert and Alex had already booked to travel to the USA later in the year to attend a major magic convention. After a lot of perseverance, they managed to get a meeting with specialist education Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) TV station in Los Angeles. KLCS were very supportive. Later, the world premier of The Amazing House was shown on KLCS. Wow, we were Hollywood producers.

As well as wanting The Amazing House to be of the highest production standards, we consulted experienced teachers and academics in education and reading skills.

For the first few episodes, it was Alex who came to the house to join Fi-Be and Benji in their adventures. When Alex went to discover the world, The Amazing House welcomed Taryn to join Fi-Be and Benji with their fun.

Altogether, 26 half hour episodes were created. To complement these, 26 Shorts were made to be just fun. Each short is about 3-4 minutes long and complement an episode.

As we had no experience in video production, we were able to invent all sorts of new ways of production high quality content and lead the way with several of our techniques and set construction. The episodes were recorded in the family room of Robert’s and Sherryl’s house, which really became an amazing house of creativity and fun.

We were thrilled when the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Commercial were our worldwide distributors between 2012-2018. They sold the program to many customers including TV stations in the Seychelles, Bahamas/Caribbean countries and Kuwait. Many people were entertained by The Amazing House on airlines such as Jetsar and cruise ships. The Amazing House received many messages from people saying how The Amazing House was helping them learn to speak English.

Now, a new era in the life of The Amazing House has come and we look forward to many more children and adults being entertained by Fi-Be and her friends.
